Are Great Danes Expensive to
care for?
As far as their food is concerned, they need a high quality food like any other breed, no store brands etc. Other
necessities needed, will be more expensive because of the Danes’ size. They will need a larger collar, food bowls, beds,
crates, leashes etc. than the “average” sized dog. So, yes it will cost more. Their veterinary care will also cost more
when it comes to prescriptions like antibiotics, anesthetic, flea and tick preventative etc. again, because of their size,
they will require more medication than a poodle would. It works the same way with people, the more you weigh, they
higher the drug dosage is.
