Should I give vitamin and mineral supplements to my Dane?  

Through my reading and research, I believe vitamin and mineral supplementation need not be given if you are feeding a high quality diet. They will receive all the vitamins and minerals they need from their kibble if it is of good quality and well balanced.

I believe there are a couple of exceptions to this however. The first being vitamin C as well as Probiotics (digestive enzymes), which are “friendly bacteria” that help to balance the digestive tract. These are very important if giving antibiotics to your pet. Antibiotics kill bacteria, whether good or bad. Probiotics help to replenish the good bacteria in the digestive tract that the antibiotics kill.
